A bitter and icy wind blasts down from the north, but even this arctic chill can not dampen the spirits of those who gather in the clearing. A small pile of presents is spread before the eager contestants, and Warden of the Desolate Tundra stands guard, impervious to the cold.

Hard to believe another year has flown by, but it's time for the 2016 White Elephant game!

White Elephants are a popular party game, but of course we’re doing things a little differently on the forums. Sign-ups are open from now until Saturday December 17 at 12:00 PM Pacific. Nine players will be randomly selected from all the submitted forms. The game will start Saturday December 17th at 5:00 PM Pacific. Based on previous years, the game will likely run about two hours. Active participation is key so please only sign up if you will be available during this time. I will try my best to post a list of players right after signups close.

How the game will be played:

Before the game begins I will take a roll-call. If a player is not in attendance I’ll make the call for standby players to take their place.
The nine players will be numbered off and I will post the descriptions of the wrapped presents. The first player has their choice of presents from the pile, but they don’t get to unwrap it yet.
Once a player has made their selection I will repost the list and successive players will have their choice of presents from the pile or they can steal a present from another player!
If a present is stolen from you, you can either steal from a different player (no steal-backs) or chose another present from the pile.
A warning though, the wrapping paper is delicate and may tear apart during theft! If this happens the thief receives the contents of the present, it cannot be stolen from them.
The game ends when all the presents from the pile have been selected. All the presents will open to reveal their contents!

Presents

A sullen present with a pale blue paper and stormy-blue ribbon

This cheerful package has banana yellow wrapping paper and a creamy pink ribbon

This vibrant blue package tied with an orange ribbon is balanced precariously on top of another package.

This package has a decidedly spring time look to it, with grass green paper and a pale lavender bow.

This large and bold package with orange paper and midnight blue bow stands towards the rear of the pile.

This present is eye-smartingly vibrant with it's magenta paper and sparkly cyan ribbon.

The sparkly cherry red wrapping paper gleams and glitters, while the lime ribbon drapes elegantly across it.

Metallic gold paper is nicely offset by a thick red velvet ribbon.

This charcoal gray package blends into the shadows, but the flashes of pearlescent ribbon stand out.

Applications are closed, players are posted! There were 12 applications but only 9 spots, so there are 3 people on standby. If one of the players does not show up on time a standby player will be offered their spot.

The order of the list is the play order. I'll have the present boxes posted shortly (photobuket is being a pain). Any questions feel free to ask!

I just wanted to make sure that Pacific time is three hours after Eastern time? So for me the time would be I think 8pm? Do I have that right?

I am mountain time so I believe it's at 6 for me. That's what google said anyways XP hahaha.

The game is at 5pm Pacific, so mountain would be 6pm, Central would be 7pm and Eastern would be 8pm, yep.

It's a bit early, but I'm going to start doing roll call. If you're one if the 9 players and are here, please just post "hi" or something like that. I'll give it until 10 after or so for everyone to post.
